The A³ region has maintained and expanded its status as front runner in the field of Mechatronics in Europe for more than 100 years. For example, even today the most powerful marine diesel engines, the most innovative helicopters, the most modern booster rockets and the most intelligent industrial robots world-wide come from the A³ region. The region relies on a synergetic fusion of trend-setting mechanical, electronic and IT technologies. This development is supported by the settlement of internationally renowned research and education institutions, like for instance the application centres of the Technical University of Munich on the Augsburg site, the "iwb" (Production Technology) and the "FZG" (Drive Technology).
