AVA: Most modern waste recycling in Europe

The AVA "Abfallverwertung Augsburg GmbH" is a young, innovative company, operating one of the most modern waste recycling plants in Europe. With the creation of its waste disposal park, a waste economy concept of exemplary character has been created - the "Augsburg model". A waste thermal power station with integrated hospital waste incineration, a slag preparation plant, a handling and treatment plant, a compost plant and a sorting plant complement each other on 235,000 m².

Finnforest Merk: Modern timber construction

The new wooden roller coaster in New Jersey, USA, is 60 m high. It was constructed in cooperation with the Aichach company Finnforest Merk, who manufactured the rails from "Kerto" plywood. Engineering timber construction, a wide range of construction products/systems and compre-hensive service are part of the company's services.

MAN: Drive technology for the energy of the future

The Augsburg Renk AG, a company in the MAN Group, has developed highly innovative gearboxes for wind power stations with more than five megawatt, which could provide a small city with electricity. The gearbox, developed and manufactured by RENK, with a weight of about 60 tons, is the most powerful and largest gearbox for a wind power station to date. It is the task of this gearbox to augment the relatively low rotational speed of the rotor to the mid-range of generator speeds.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers: Green PCs

The Green PC series of Fujitsu Siemens Computers, being manufactured in the Augsburg plant, are currently the only computers complying with the procurement criteria of the Environmental Foundation. The Green PC's have a lower environmental impact than comparable devices, due to material selection and current saving functions Green PC's are largely lead-free. Special construction makes recycling a lot easier in a specially equipped recycling centre.
