In automotive engineering, aviation and aerospace, micro systems technology and production technology: Augsburg technicians and inventors like Rudolf Diesel and Willy Messerschmitt have written world history.

What started with the invention of the diesel engine and novel aircraft technology, contributed to the region A³ to become that what it is today: A driving force in high-tech innovations. Internationally renowned companies like Siemens, MAN Roland, EADS and NCR have chosen the economic area Augsburg as production site and ensure their progress with technological high performance competence.

World-wide benchmarks from A³

A³ did not only produce world-class literature like Bertolt Brecht’s: The region also provides the prerequisites for high-tech printing processes with its innovative power. We are duly proud of our revolutionary inventions: The Augsburg company MAN Roland, for instance, constructed the first genuine digital printing machine of the world. Their DicoWEB constitutes a new milestone in the evolution of printing technology.

But the company also realises future visions in the automotive industry: The first gas engine in the world originated in the Augsburg innovation breeding ground.
