The two universities in the economic area Augsburg, the University of Augsburg and the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg, are outstanding, technically renowned research and education institutions in the traditionally high quality knowledge region of southern Germany. The institutions generate up to date research knowledge in various fields of focus and at the same time they train highly qualified specialist staff for companies in the region.
Both universities see themselves as partners of the companies in fulfilling their tasks of research and training, with numerous industrial projects and practice oriented study courses as well as practical work in companies and theses by the students.
Internationality plays an important role at the Augsburg education site. Besides exchange students from all over the world, the University of Augsburg maintains partnerships in the USA and Eastern Europe. Both universities have an international presence with numerous MBA, Master and Bachelor study courses.

The University of Augsburg is a high performance research and education university. The university is characterised by manifold study opportunities and outstanding working conditions. The high percentage of students from outside of Bavaria is proof of the attraction of the University of Augsburg extending well beyond the region.
In 2004, the University of Augsburg was decorated as the best German university regarding further training in the competition "Universities in the Further Training Market" of the "Benefactor Association for German Science". The centre for further training and transfer of science ("ZWW") of the university serves as interface between science and practice.
