The focus is on the robot-assisted manufacture of components made from fibre-reinforced composites for the aerospace industry. The aim is to develop technologies for cost-effective, robust production of high quality.<\/p><p>A flexible infrastructure, unique in Europe, enables research on a full-scale basis: in collaboration with industry, a wide variety of production processes can be developed in line with specific needs and assessed for their suitability for automation. Through holistic research across the entire process chain, the ZLP is able to respond to the specific requirements of the respective industry. Using unique, multifunctional large-scale facilities, the ZLP develops strategies for manufacturing lightweight structures cost-effectively, in an environmentally responsible manner and to a high standard of quality. In doing so, process steps are investigated, integrated and replicated on an industrial scale using the appropriate technical infrastructure.<\/p><p>At the ZLP\u2019s Augsburg site, academia and industry work together to develop new processes, making it easier for innovations to be implemented on an industrial scale.
