Practical example: OPEN INNOVATION – Innovation managers are meeting at FORVIA in Augsburg
At the Innovation Management network meeting, regional innovation managers from manufacturing companies in the Augsburg region came together to discuss new ideas for collaboration and technological developments. The event was hosted by FORVIA’s Augsburg site, which, as part of a global automotive supplier, boasts state-of-the-art development and production facilities in the field of metalworking.
Participants were given exclusive insights into the FORVIA Technology Park in Augsburg, which is increasingly opening up to open innovation and collaborative partnerships. The aim is to tap into new markets and jointly develop innovative solutions by combining in-house expertise with external know-how.
An overview of the site’s key areas:
- Machining of sheet metal and tubes, with a focus on stainless steel processing, in particular using precision welding techniques.
- Development and manufacture of prototypes, right through to the development of automated mass-production processes for complex metal components and assemblies.
- Tool and machine construction, focusing on the development and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
- Test centres and laboratories that facilitate a wide range of testing and quality assurance measures.
A particular highlight of the meeting was a tour of a modern NVH acoustic test rig with a 4-wheel roller. This enables comprehensive testing of vehicles and components – from acoustic measurements to strength analyses. Applications outside the automotive industry are also certainly possible.
The network meeting provided initial ideas on how the Augsburg site can serve as a platform for technological collaboration and innovative approaches in the future.
