Well-being and economic strength - these keywords are probably the best way to summarise the importance of the rural districts of Augsburg and Aichach-Friedberg for life in the A³ region. With their towns, markets and municipalities, the two districts are home to more than 390,000 people. The diverse natural areas not only define the landscape of A³, but also offer unlimited opportunities for recreation and retreat. At the same time, it is family businesses, hidden champions and well-known companies that allow the area surrounding Augsburg to flourish into dynamic future locations. In short, the two districts of Augsburg and Aichach-Friedberg - alongside the metropolis of Augsburg - are a popular centre of attraction for business, families and an increasing number of young people

Tradition-bound and future-orientated

Bavaria's central location and good transport links make the districts of Augsburg and Aichach-Friedberg sought-after business locations. Nature

Holiday on the doorstep

Strong economic areas and a high quality of life go hand in hand. The Land of A³ is known for its diverse and picturesque natural areas. If you are looking to live in the countryside or simply want to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the districts are just the place for you. The local villages and towns are surrounded by fields, meadows and extensive woodlands. The Western Forests Nature Park in the district of Augsburg is one of them. It is a huge recreational area with numerous leisure opportunities right on the doorstep. On over 2,500 kilometres of cycling and hiking trails, past bodies of water and idyllic villages, you can take a deep breath in the green countryside. In the district of Aichach-Friedberg, numerous streams meander through the romantic Lech and Paar valleys, making the region a special experience for nature lovers. Although the districts are located in the conurbation triangle, they have retained their rural, idyllic charm and thus ensure a high quality of life.

Life and Leisure

Experience culture and customs

The districts are also culturally diverse thanks to their exciting history. The Wittelsbacher Land, as the district of Aichach-Friedberg is also known, is the ‘cradle of Old Bavaria’. This is because the 800-year history of the Wittelsbach dynasty began right here. To this day, magnificent churches and imposing palaces, such as the Wittelsbach Palace in Friedberg or the Sisi Palace, bear witness to their reign. Throughout the district, there are an impressive number of historical sites with a connection to the Wittelsbach dynasty. In addition, in the old Bavarian ducal towns of Aichach and Friedberg and the surrounding communities, splendid festivals are a reminder of the region's cultural roots. Highlights include the medieval market days in Aichach, the historic old town festival ‘Friedberger Zeit’ or the annual Inchenhofen Leonhardiritt, which has been held since the 15th century. These cultural events bring people together. In general, togetherness plays a key role in the countryside of A³. The districts live from the community and the commitment of their citizens. No one symbolises this more than the many volunteers who are involved in numerous associations

Bavarian-Swabian way of life

Because the people who live here appreciate their beautiful homeland, they are in favour of more regionality and sustainability. The wide range of food and products produced in the region can be found at weekly markets and in many local farm shops. A great example of this is the Dasing farmers' market, the largest direct marketing project for farmers in the whole of Bavaria. Products from farms and suppliers from the region are sold and processed in the large market hall with catering, bakery, retail and butcher's shop. The aim is to raise awareness of products from the region. And where better to enjoy local produce than in the region's numerous beer gardens and pubs. After all, it is the unique Bavarian-Swabian way of life that makes the land of A³ such a lovely place. It stands for down-to-earthness, conviviality and joie de vivre. An attitude to life that characterises the identity and cohesion of the rural regions.
